Sailor Astera - Garage Kit Mod by sakkysa Sailor Astera - Garage Kit Mod by sakkysa
Not entirely sure DA has a section for model kits but here ya go! ;P

This is a 1/6 scale Sailor Pluto kit modded to be Sailor Astera. Everything is hand painted with acrylic except the skin which is model paint. Things I had to mod were the bows (filed them to make them the right shape for Astera) and the hair. I had to fill the hole where Pluto's bun would go and remove the pulled back hair parts and sculpt the hair style back. Benefits of having a very canonical looking fan senshi, tyvm :la:

I had to make her brooch because the kit came with a round one. I pieced together her dagger from parts of Pluto's staff and sanded it to a point.

This is the first kit I've completed. I started one a few years ago of Sailor Moon but it was such a nightmare and I had no idea what I was doing so I never finished it. ^_^;

I've made a base for her but it still needs to be painted and stuff.

I'm smitten. :love:

Well hopefully she can be put back together again. That would be horrible to put all that work and effort in making her and then have her be unfixable

Hi, I just got my first kit, a simple Sailor Mars kit. However I'm kinda stuck. What sort of putty (if any) did you use? What did you use for pinning?

I used epoxy (Beacon 527 I think it's called?) and I pinned with small wooden dowels and a hand drill. :D

Oh crap, I missed this before. *late as hell*
Dang...was wondering if something like this was doable. ._. You freaking nailed the modifications. Gawd...it makes my Uni figurine look like crap. xD
But wow...this is really cool. I bet it feels awesome to have a little Astera standing there~

ebay! I don't know that much about them but I do know that the ones from Thailand are usually bootleg recasts that are terrible. This is a recast too but I think it was from Hong Kong or something where the quality is a little better. The real resin kits I've heard are great to work with but I haven't had time to try one yet. I've ordered one though!! :eager: If you find someone who does a lot of kits they can probably refer you to sites where you can get real ones. The only ones I know off the top of my head are [link] and [link]
