Where does it say that Mars took an oath of chastity? Which act? Which episode?

I figured this would be easy to find so I Googled it for you. It's in Act 36, Mars Dream. MIXX translation says "loyalty" but kurozuki.com has "chastity." I don't read Japanese so I'm not sure which is more accurate. Hope that helps :D

I know she hates men and said she didn't want to marry. I doubt Serenity would ask Mars to swear a vow of chastity to her in order to protect her. That doesn't sound like the Princess Serenity we all know and love<3.

The word used by Rei in the manga is "junketsu". While it is true that this word usually is translated as "chastity", and that Rei says in the manga that she made a vow to princess Serenity, it doesn't necessarily mean that she must remain single her whole life. In the West, we often think of Chastity as being equal to celibacy or sexual abstinence. In the Eastern cultures and religions however, Chastity has a much broader meaning, referring to a person's self control and the will to never give in to temptations or to never neglect his/her own duties. In fact, the word "junketsu" can be translated as "purity" as well as "chastity". In the manga, when Rei sees the "terror image" in the mirror, what is the main source of her fear is not the vision of herself being married to a man, but the vision that she is becoming a spoiled bride who only lives a lazy, lustful life. When she regains her confidence and defeats the vision, she remembers that she made a vow to Serenity of always being "pure", i.e. never to sacrifice her duties for her own temptations. Naturally, this vow includes restrictions on her own love life to some extent, but it is not as she is prohibited to ever date or marry someone. I thought I should bring this up since people are often a little too quick with interpreting the scene as being a "vow of 100% celibacy." So yeah, I really don't think in the context that she is saying that she's taken a vow of eternal virginity, etc. It appears to be more that she's vowing to be true to herself, loyal to Princess Serenity and the planets.

I'm not sure why your lecturing me on this but point taken, I guess. *I* didn't say she made a vow of celibacy, I said that my friend said she took an "oath of chastity." Personally, I don't really care who Mars sleeps with (but I'd prefer it was Venus ;P)

I was just making a point. I tend to ramble on, I don't mean to lecture though. Sorry about that. I can see Mars with Venus, easily though I see her with Usagi even better^^.
